There is no quicker and easier way to ensure a better return on investment than to paint a house before selling it. Here are a few reasons why you should consider painting your house before putting it up for sale.
- A new coat of paint is one of the most common presale improvements and could make all the difference when it comes to first impressions. And first impressions count!
- First impressions are important both in person and when it comes to online presence. Most people begin house hunting online, fresh paint will make for nicer pictures and in return attract a higher number of buyers.
- Unless a buyer is looking specifically for a fixer upper, most buyers don’t want to have to paint when they move in. Help make their decision easier by doing the work for them. It might be why they end up choosing your house over others they look at.
All that said, there are definitely factors to consider when deciding if you should paint before you sell.
- Is the market in your area a hot sellers market? If so, maybe your house will sell whether it’s freshly painted or not.
- Does the cost of painting outweigh the return on investment (ROI)? If you are a DIY kind, a quick coat of paint might be worth your time, but that might not be the case if you need to hire a professional to get the job done.
